Padlet is pretty cool - using various multimedia in a virtual 'bulletin board'! We use with students to brainstorm ideas at the beginning of a lesson, to have a digital Q&A throughout the lesson, and even as a place for students to post their own creative assessments.
It is amazing that the electronic gradebook was such a tough transition for some teachers - it is such a time-saver and you are right, it allows students and parents to have an idea of how they are doing when it is convenient for them, rather than at designated report card times.
